Adding Subtitle (Hardsub) into a MP4 File

Creating softsub to a mp4 file is a painfull process and not very iPhone/iPod friendly. If you’re lucky, the subtitle would appear and mostly it not.

Now we can convert a file and at the same time insert hard-sub to the result file in one go.

Just 3 steps to make it done.

  1. First install VirtualDub latest version.
  2. Install Vobsub, at “choose components” check the box “Textsub for VirtualDub and Avisynth” from “plugins” list.
  3. Install Videora

Before converting, make sure

  1. no space in the filename. Example “old lady.avi” rename it to “old-lady.avi” or “oldlady.avi” or whatever you like.
  2. the sub (.srt) is in same directory with the movie
  3. The filenames is exactly the same. Eg: “old-lady.avi” and the sub must be “old-lady.srt”

Run Videora, follow on screen step and convert. Automatically Vobsub find the sub and VirtualDub hardsub it.

This is a finish result.

hardsub

Enjoy! :)
